How to Access eBooks in Ebook Central (ProQuest)

This guide provides links to all of our book club reads. When you find the current (or past read) you'd like to access, click "Read the eBook now!" In a new tab, ProQuest Ebook Central will open to display the book's record.

Option 1 - Read Online:

Click "Read Online" under the book cover image to read the full text online right from your internet browser.

Option 2 - Download the eBook:

Click "Download Book" under the book cover image to download the book to your computer. (Note: downloading requires Adobe Digital Editions, and is thus not available on HPU VDIs, which have disabled downloading of this software.)

Indicate whether you are using your own computer or a public computer and click "Continue."

The button will open adobe.com in a new tab. From there, select the appropriate download (for Macintosh, Windows, other Apple devices, or Google devices).

Then, open the Adobe Digital Editions installer on your device, and follow the steps to complete this installation.

After installing, you will be prompted to authorize your device. You can authorize your device by signing into your Adobe account (recommended), or you can choose to authorize the device without an Adobe account (this is also fine).

If you choose to authorize by signing into your Adobe account, enter your credentials. (If you do not have an Adobe account, create one now. It is free and easy.)

Once, you've authorized your device, the eBook will download and will appear in your Adobe Digital Editions library. Double click on the book cover image to read it. Voilà!

Loan periods vary by book. When it is time to return your book, it will be automatically removed from your library. You will be able to download it again later, or access it online anytime.
