ANSI University Outreach Program
Free ISO & IEC Standards for Classroom Use
ANSI "will provide free access to faculty and students to any defined group of standards currently available in the collections of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which contain nearly 20,000 standards." In order to be eligible, you will need to know exactly which standard(s) you will need access to. To sign up for this free access, university faculty need to fill out an online form that talks about the class and addresses how the class would use the standards..
ASHRAE Read-Only Standards
offers free, read-only access to a select number of their "current popular standards" and standards referenced in code.
ASTM Standards on Campus
ASTM offers Standards on Campus. Instructors choose ten standards from the full ASTM library that students purchase for ten dollars as an ASTM course packet.
IEC Webstore
The IEC Webstore lists all IEC standards, covering electronics and related technologies.
Incorporated by Reference (IBR) Standards Hosted by ANSI
provides free access to select read-only, full-text standards incorporated by reference in U.S. federal regulations.
ISO Online Browsing Platform
On the OBP you can freely preview parts of the standards (Foreword, Introduction, Scope, Normative references or Terms & definitions). This can help you decide whether it is the right standard you are looking for.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Free Standards List
NIST offers a list of standards bodies that make some or all of their standards free, or free with membership.
