Academic Integrity & Plagiarism

Academic integrity involves submitting one’s own work and properly acknowledging the ideas and statements of others. Plagiarism, or presenting another's work as one’s own, is a serious offense under the University's disciplinary system. While often perceived as intentional, plagiarism can also occur accidentally through poor research and writing practices or a lack of awareness of proper citation. Hawai‘i Pacific University enforces strict policies against academic dishonesty, including cheating, unauthorized assistance, and submitting non-original work, with penalties up to expulsion. Academic exercises encompass all submitted work, whether electronic, oral, or written, for grades or credit.
