EndNote Basic: Taylor & Francis

Learn how to use EndNote Basic to manage your references.

Exporting References from Taylor & Francis

Note that this process is easiest if you are using Firefox with the extension installed and pop-up blocker disabled.

Check the "Journals" Box only if you are looking for journal articles. Run your search in Taylor and Francis Online and Click Search.

Check off the boxes located to the left of the references you would like to save to your EndNote Basic account, and click on Download citation.

Select Citation Format: RIS (ProCite, Reference Manager) and click on Download citations.

If the ResearchSoft Direct Export Helper is present, first try choosing that option, since it functions as a direct export. Check that the Open with button is selected, and click OK

If your computer's settings are optimal, you will be prompted to log in to your EndNote Basic account. Your references will export directly into your EndNote Basic account.

Note: If you are prompted a pop-up box for "Choose Destination" instead of EndNote Web Login box, skip to step # 14.

Open a new tab in your browser and click on the EndNote button on the top left side of the screen to log in to your EndNote Basic account.

Click on [Unfiled] to display the references that you have saved. Check off the boxes located to the left of the references you would like to add to a group. Select "New group" from the drop-down menu to create a new group. Enter a new group name when you are prompted a box and click OK. (OR select an existing group if you already create one).

Your references should be saved to the specified group.

Step # 14

If your references do not export directly, a pop-up box for "Choose Destination" will appear. In that case, instead of choosing Open with, select Save file and click OK. The reference file will probably be saved in your computer's Downloads folder.

Open a new tab in your browser and click on the EndNote button on the top left side of the screen to log in to your EndNote Basic account.

Select the Collect tab and click on Import References. Browse and select the reference file you saved earlier (probably in your Downloads folder).

Select RefMan RIS as your Import Option. If RefMan RIS does not appear in your drop-down box, you may need to click on Select Favorites and add it to your Favorites list first.  Select an existing group  (or create new group) for these references and click Import.

Your references should be saved to the specified group.
